All our clubs run out of a modular classroom building looking onto both the playground and playing field at Grove CE Primary School. The classroom was refurbished in December 2018 and we now benefit from 53m2 of purpose-designed indoor play space and a small but well-equiped kitchen.
The interior is light, modern and spacious. Toys, games and books are stored in boxes and on shelves within easy reach of children so they can pick, play and put it away themselves.
We have plenty here to suit children from 3 to 11. We've got more off-site so that lets us change the mix in response to children's interests.
We don't have a television but we do sometimes bring in a projector to watch a film or play some big-screen games.
The site has extensive and well laid out grounds. There is a football pitch on the field. The playground has netball posts. There is a fitness trail too.
We have a range of ride-on toys, with something for all ages: go-karts, trikes, scooter. Various bats, balls, hoppers, and skipping ropes are also available any time. We also have soft archery, golf and hockey equipment for use under supervision.
There are plenty of "loose parts" for children to let their imagination run riot.
The park by Millbrook Square is within easy walking distance. It has a wide range of fixed play equipment. Grove has a network of footpaths that makes it easy and safe to explore. There are also plenty of footpaths across fields and alongside Letcombe brook for country walks.
The furtherst we've walked as a group is Cornerstone Coffee Shop, where we've enjoyed much-needed drinks and cakes.
We've yet to venture across the A338 and into the woods, but we hope to in the holidays. And we are still looking for a really good climbing tree!
